Dear friends of Bonnechere Baptist Camp,
It has been a very difficult year of social distancing, lockdowns and restrictions. And while the arrival of vaccines seems to offer hope for a return to normal this fall, we aren’t there yet. As such, I am writing to inform you that we have once again come to the very difficult decision of cancelling our camps for the 2021 season.
We recognize that this is disappointing for many campers, parents, staff and camp alumni; however, we feel that there are too many uncertainties at this point to continue to try to move ahead with preparations for this summer. Ontario Health still has not clarified the required protocols or conditions under which camps would be allowed to operate this year, if at all.
We want you to be assured that this difficult decision was based on:
- prayerful discussion,
- the utmost care for the wellbeing of both the local and BBC communities, and
- our desire to be wise stewards of both finances and our volunteers time.
Although the leadership is disappointed that we will not be seeing you all at camp again this year, we will continue to work on improving the campgrounds and developing promotional strategies for future years, including the creation of a camp logo to put on our new BBC swag!
We will continue to communicate with our campers, staff and families through social media.
We thank you for your understanding and pray that you and your families have a safe, healthy and happy summer. We hope to be able to enjoy camp with you once again next year.
